Enabling Ping on Speedtouch WL780

By default you can't ping the speedtouch WL780 from the internet, I'm not paranoid about security so I wanted to enable it. Todo this telnet to the router and login. The execute the command: service system ifadd name=PING_RESPONDER group=wan This should enabled ICMP from the internet which then means you can use a service such as l8nc to monitor your internet connection. I currently have l8nc graphing my connection.

as l8nc is broken you can use www.fruk.net f8lure as a replacement :)

Found your site searching for how the hell to enable ping on the speedtouches!

Thx. Using Pingplotter myself and it was a real pain that my Speedtoch didn't reply.

... one point to note, after running this, had to issue a "saveall" (I can't recall exact spelling of command or if it had underscore) to commit the change to flash otherwise it gets lost on reboot of router.
